2016 KX85

The 2015 KX85 is here and ready to start a revolution. Comprehensively re-designed and re-imagined from top to bottom, Kawasaki engineers have gone all-out to ensure the KX85 has what it takes to stamp its dominance on the Junior MX circuit.

With around 20% more power when compared to the 2013 model, increased cooling, upgraded suspension, adjustable handlebar positioning and all-new bodywork, the 2015 KX85 is the bike to beat.

20% greater power

A low-friction piston, new KIPS valve and numerous other updates give these liquid-cooled, 2-stroke racing engines increased power and torque across the rev range. Peak power is almost 20% greater compared to the MY13 KX85

High-tensile steel frame

The rigid, high-tensile steel perimeter frame enables young riders to push hard on the track.

Adjustable handlebar

A choice of six positions allows riders to fit the bike to their own riding position. Mounting brackets feature 2-position forward-backward adjustment while optional spacers allow 3-positions of height adjustment.

The KX85’s radiator has been built to work hand in hand with the power output. Keeping it all cool when the racing is getting hot.

Revised forks

The 2015 revised fork offers improved damping and bottoming resistance, enabling higher-paced riding and contributing to increased ride comfort. Front suspension performance has been stepped up to the next level thanks to Accumulating Shim-Type Valving – the same system as used on full-size KX models.

Petal discs

Disc brakes front and rear ensure strong stopping power with excellent control. Now with petal discs, just like the larger KX models.

Rear suspension

Revisions to the rear shock contribute to a more stable ride feel, and offer increased adjustability and lighter weight. Lime green spring and green annodized adjusters add to the factory look.

All-new minimalist bodywork, flatter tank and slimmer, flatter seat were designed to make it easier for racers to go fast. Combined with a lower positioned fuel cap, enables easier body transitioning from the front to the rear of the motorcycle.

All-new bodywork and racy graphics ensure the new bikes will look good in the winners’ circle. Black alumite rims, black fork guards, and green annodized finish on the suspension adjusters further strengthen their factory image.

Smooth-shifting transmission

The KX’s smooth-shifting six-speed transmission offers a positive shifting action along with rugged durability thanks to hard chromed shift forks and new bushings added to the second, third and fourth gears on the output shaft.

KIPS valve system

The KIPS system varies exhaust port height for increased horsepower and torque. A breather in KIPS cover relieves exhaust pressure for more precise KIPS valve action and improved high rpm performance. KIPS lever stopper spring absorbs governor “over stroke” for added durability. The KIPS governor has a long stroke to open the cylinder valves more fully. A governor spring and 8 mm bearing boss aid durability.

Thick base at the clutch housing fingers for increased durability. The right hand engine cover provides a separate clutch cover for quick servicing without removing the water pump.
